When we say Black lives matter, Trans lives matter and Indigenous lives matter, we mean this. However, matter is the minimum. We need to move beyond the minimum and behave in anti-racist, anti-transphobic and anti-homophobic ways. This means more than just wearing a shirt, of course. However, we believe it's a good place to start. We personally have learned a lot through many activists in these spaces and one we really like is Ibram X. Kendi. "At the rallies I’ve been to lately for black lives, a lot of us have started using the chant and painting signs that say “matter is the minimum”. I was wondering if you guys could do something with that statement on a shirt or sweatshirt. I think the sentiment behind it, that matter is the baseline and more care and validation needs to happen, is really valuable and really gets the message across that we will not stop at just acknowledging and accepting ones existence in society but rather we are looking for liberation."
